#ShapeTheWorld: International Women in Engineering Day (INWED)

Organized by the Women’s Engineering Society, International Women in Engineering Day takes place on June 23 every year and is a clear call to women to shape the world. The dedicated day spotlights engineering as an exciting career opportunity for girls, one that helps make the planet a better, safer and more innovative place to be.

The objectives of International Women in Engineering Day include:

  • Encouraging girls to consider engineering careers early in their education as a way to address the engineering skills shortage
  • Celebrating women engineers globally through events, activities and resources to raise the profile of engineering careers for girls
  • Supporting organizations that employ women engineers and applaud the strides toward a more diverse and gender-equal industry

At K&A, we are celebrating our women engineers on Internal Women in Engineering Day – and every day!

Here’s what they had to say about a fulfilling career in engineering at K&A:

TESTIMONIES:

"In high school, I decided to become a Chemical Engineer after hearing a woman scientist from the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, CO, speak to our science class. She gave a presentation on her research projects that were looking at ways to turn garbage into fuel. I thought it was an exciting field of study, and it really spoke to my desire to help clean up the environment and work on solutions to energy problems. Early in my career, I used my degree to design petrochemical plants and biopharmaceutical processes. I then moved into Project Management, where I had the opportunity to manage industrial waste-water treatment and power delivery projects. Today I use my skills and experience to lead K&A’s technical proposal efforts and market our engineering services to electric utility clients and other engineering firms. I have loved the wide variety of cool projects that I have been a part of throughout my career and continue to love collaborating with intelligent colleagues to solve challenging problems. "
